One of the highlights of being a Democrat in Iowa is the Harkin Steak Fry. Every year Iowa's top Democrat holds a fundraiser in Indianola and, over the last couple decades has grown it into one of the top political events in the nation. Dozens of presidential candidates and have gotten their first taste of Iowa politics with an Iowa steak on the side. I try to go every year. This was the first where I wasn't "on the clock." Knocking on doors is both my favorite way to help a campaign and venue for political campaign photography.

Thirteen presidential candidates and thousands of supporters packed the room at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines. I attended pre-event rallies for Mayor Pete Buttigieg, Congressman John Delaney, and Senator Amy Klobuchar.

Seventeen candidates for President gathered in Water Works Park in Des Moines to speak to a crowd of over 10,000 Iowa Democrats.

An email and a phone call was all it took to land me front and center at this event. Huge shoutout to Camille for giving me this opportunity.
