Rally

Rally is my visual record of one of Iowa’s most iconic political events: The Steak Fry.

What began as a fundraiser on a supporter’s farm in 1972 became the Harkin Steak Fry. An event attended by Presidents, Presidential hopefuls, press from around the globe, and activists from every corner of the state. After Senator Harkin’s retirement the Polk County Democratic Party took up the spatula… err, mantle.

All the while, it never seemed to lose its feeling of family reunion.

For over 10 years, I’ve been a photographer at that reunion. I’ve compiled a collection of those photos into a book, and it’s finally ready to be served.

The first 100 copies are numbered and signed by me and were union printed in the USA.
